It is high time to open a new chapter of urban development. City problems are multiplying, public space is sold out and the scenery for an open and civil way of life is shrinking.
The symposion aims at gaining a new persepctive on urban development.: to refocus on the inner city areas and to employ the art of gardening to improve urban living conditions. "Schokoladenseite" is a forum for cultural and interdisciplinary discussion and the presentation of new promenade projects from all over Europe. Our symposion aspires to show possible new versions of city life, generated with the help of revived or old promenades. We would like to focus redefining the the understanding of contemporary urban development and town-planning which originally stems form the baroque art of gardening.
Among others we have invited for the discussions and lectures: Enric Battle i Durany, Stefano Boeri, Massimo Cacciari, Jo Coenen, Michel Corajoud, Beth Gali, Klaus von Krosigk, Peter Latz, Plilippe Mathieux, Werner Oechslin, Floris Alkemade (OMA), Iris Reuther, Wim Wenders, Richard Sennett, Thomas Sieverts, Wim Wenders
