Our opening speaker on Thursday 3/21 will be Dr. Susan Douglas of the University of Michigan speaking about her book "Where the Girls Are: Growing Up Female with the Mass Media." On Saturday 3/23, the conference will close with a speech by Dr. Judith Newton of the University of California at Davis on the subject "The Politics of Feeling: Men, Masculinity, and Mourning at Ground Zero." We welcome scholars and graduate students interested in gender studies to join us in sunny south Texas.
