This symposium includes an examination of issues such
as psychoanalysis, genre, implication, and the implied in
all its dimensions, including linguistics (pragmatics). The
implicit includes presuppositions, the implied, inferences,
conversational implications, and the unsaid. Short story
collections, short story cycles, and stories written in
English from any tradition may be analysed. Finished
papers should be of 20 minutes duration.
Selected papers will be published in "Journal of the Short
Story in English".
Send 300-word proposal or abstract to one of the email
addresses below, preferably by 1 April.
Submissions are also being accepted for general
numbers of JSSE (20pp. limit, MLA style). Send
