This book, tentatively entitled "Music and History: Bridging the Disciplines" will gather original essays by senior and junior scholars in order to illuminate the connections between the disciplines of music and history. Practitioners in these two fields have much in common, but we have often talked past one another or have chosen not to engage in dialogue for a variety of reasons. We think that there are ways to overcome these obstacles, and we believe that this collection of essays will provide some examples of how to do so. Each essay will consist of a piece of original research that works to bring musical and historical information together along with the author’s methodological reflections containing insights that readers from both disciplines can appreciate.
If you are a historian or a scholar of music (musicology, ethnomusicology, music history, music theory), please contact us at the email below with a brief description of your research and a proposed title.
