The symposium is planned to blend theory with practice and cutting-edge thinking about the realities of individual, social, and corporate responsibility for the use of personal and environmental resources in the global economy. Symposium themes include global change, health and human development, "green" movements, family and commmunity issues, technology and ethics and issues of consumption and production. Presentation proposals from scholars representing over a dozen nations have been accepted.
The Fourth Paolucci Symposium honors Dr.Beatrice Paolucci, Professor of Human Ecology at MSU from 1951-1983, who devoted her professional and personal life to the well-being of individuals and families around the world. A commemorative book, entitled "Beatrice Paolucci--Shaping Destiny through Everyday Life" will be introduced at the symposium. Dr. Clifton Wharton, former President of Michigan State University will give the opening address for the event.
The Fourth Paolucci Symposium, sponsored by the College of Human Ecology, will take place April 4-6, 2002 at the Kellogg Center on the MSU campus.
