Proposals are sought for scholarly essays (3,000-9,000 words) that address the diverse topic of surrealist thought and practice - in the domain of architecture, physical space, landscapes, and the city - for a proposed book anthology. This book will present diverse responses to the under-examined relationship between surrealism proper and the possibility of surrealist thought and practice in the spaces of the modern period (1924 and beyond). Proposals for presentations that investigate specific historical influences and relations between surrealism and modern architecture (in collaborations, exhibitions, built works, documents and images) are especially welcome.
Further details may be requested from Thomas Mical via e-mail (tmical@ou.edu). Please submit a 300-500 word abstract of your proposal, and a 1 page biography by e-mail before 31 March 2002. Follow-up details for deadlines for the final papers will be sent based upon the acceptance of proposal.
