Visions in Action & the African Studies Program of Georgetown University are pleased to announce the sixth Working for Global Justice Conference, to be held 5-7 April 2002 at Georgetown's Bunn Intercultural Center. The Conference addresses careers, issues and means of acting in the field of international development, with this year's focus to be "Resources & Conflict in Africa".
From Friday afternoon through Sunday morning, there will be 25-30 panels dealing with issues as diverse as Refugees & Relief, Microfinance/Microenterprise, Research, Roles of the Media, Afghanistan, Globalization & Culture, Democracy & Elections, and Debt & Structural Adjustment Programs. Also, there will be six workshops on topics like Interview Techniques & Salary Negotiation in Non-Profits and Getting Your First Overseas Experience. There are also two Keynote Addresses, a networking session/opportunity fair all day Saturday, resume critiques, an international film festival and social events.
Participants and panelists will range from Africanist scholars to professors of development theory to practitioners in major aid and relief organizations to college students seeking career inspiration to government policymakers.
