The theme Frontiers, Migrations and Culture intend to incorporate debates on conflictive situation of the Caribbean in Brazil (North and North East of Brazil).
The studies on the Caribbean maintain their specificity as it is revealed by the diversity of associations, centres, institutions and journals all over the world. The creation of CEBAB emerged from the successful I International Symposium of Caribbean Studies in Goiania that gathered important scholars to discuss issues of interest for all the Brazilian specialists and led to the foundation of the journal Revista Brasileira do Caribe and, finally, the approval of the Inter Institutional Project of Co-operation of the CAPES (PROCAD): Frontiers, Imagined Spaces and Places. There are also several joint research projects taking place in Mexico, France and the Canary Islands in Spain. The increase in number of bibliographical, hemerographical sources and documentaries at the Centre of Documentation of the CEBAB has facilitated its access to the research group on Caribbean Studies of Goias as well as to the researchers of Brasilia.
The development of studies on the Caribbean has favoured Latinoamericanists at an international level.
The purpose of this event is to offer the researchers of the Caribbean in Brazil and all over the world a ground of discussion and debate in order to contribute to enrich the knowledge between the Atlantic and the Caribbean, above all in research on migrations. However, the debate about the relationship about the relationships, similarities and closeness between the migrations of subaltern migrations for the Caribbean and Brazil has not happened yet.
