Call for papers: "Comparative Cultural Studies in Media and Literature: Theories and Application." Abstracts are solicited for a panel to be held at the 8th conference of IGEL: International Society for the Empirical Study of Literature http://www.arts.ualberta.ca/igel/, Janus Pannonius University at Pecs, Hungary, 21-25 August 2002. Organizers of the panel are Steven Totosy (Purdue UP) and Reinhold Viehoff (U of Halle-Wittenberg). Papers should be based on (the theory, methodology, or application of) comparative frameworks developed for cultural studies in the field of media and literary studies. Work with regard to cognition and the processing of cultural differences are of special interest to the panel. Selected papers are planned to be published in CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture: A WWWeb Journal (Purdue UP) at http://clcwebjournal.lib.purdue.edu/ and/or in a collected volume in the Purdue University Press series of books in Comparative Cultural Studies http://www.thepress.purdue.edu/compstudies.htm. Please send abstracts of 200 words to Steven Totosy at totosy@lib.purdue.edu or to Reinhold Viehoff at viehoff@medienkomm.uni-halle.de by 31 January 2002.
