Can you recall where you were and what you were doing the day Neil Armstrong took our first steps on the moon?
If you are part of the generation that put a man on the moon or have friends, family or coworkers who are, please help us preserve the public memory of this historic event in an online archive, so that future generations can understand the magnitude of this experience.
ECHO: Exploring and Collecting History Online is a project sponsored by George Mason University’s Center for History and New Media. We collect accounts of developments in the history of science, technology, and medicine from the people who witnessed and participated in them. We’re asking that you help us “Remember the Moonwalk.”
Your memories are an important part of America’s history, and we would appreciate if you could take a few minutes to record them online at:

If you are more comfortable answering the questions via e-mail, with a written letter, or over the phone please contact us with your thoughts and recollections on the following questions:
- Describe your most vivid memories of the moonwalk.
- Why did the United States put a man on the moon?
- Do you have other observations or comments?
