Vardit Rispler-Chaim, Ph.D. (University of Haifa) will be teaching a 6-session course on Contemporary Islamic Law. The course will compare fatwas on medical ethics, human rights, the position of women in society, scientific achievements, with modern Jewish responses on similar topics. The emphasis will be on fatwas from the Arab Muslim world and from Iran. The course meets 7:30-9:30 pm, Thursdays, February 7-March 14, 2002.
