The Women & Gender Network of the Social Science History Association is soliciting complete panels and individual papers for possible presentation at the 2002 SSHA Annual Conference. Proposals related to this year’s conference theme “International Perspectives on Social Science History: Thinking Globally, Researching Locally, Working Cooperatively” are encouraged, but the Network welcomes all proposals focusing on interdisciplinary approaches to women and gender history. The Network particularly seeks panel proposals that provide comparative perspectives across time and national boundaries, that reflect the multi-disciplinary make-up of SSHA, and that examine the intersections of gender and race/ethnicity/class/age/disability.
Network members at the 2001 annual meeting expressed particular interest in soliciting proposals on the following topics:
- Domestic workers in transnational economies
- Gender and the Globalization of Caring Work
- Global feminism
- Immigrant women
- Feminism and Religion
- International perspectives on marriage and divorce
- Bridging disciplinary divides in women/gender studies
- Interdisciplinary perspectives on classical, medieval and early modern gender history
- Women and Urban Space
- Women, Substance Abuse and Criminality
SUBMISSIONS: All submissions should be submitted electronically via the SSHA website at http://www.ssha.org/ssha2002/
