The Franklin & Eleanor Roosevelt Institute invites proposals for papers exploring the environmental legacy of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, to be presented at a conference to be held from Ocotober 24-26, 2002, in Hyde Park, New York. The Institute seeks innovation scholarship exploring FDR's impact on environmental resources, institutions and practices. Topics may include the creation and subsequent history of energy policies, watershed management, conservation programs, soil/agricultural reforms and the development of new legal, governmental and agency structures under FDR. The conference is intended to further understanding of environmental history as well as the history of Franklin D. Roosevelt's understanding of the relationship of the human community to the economy of nature.
