GRADUATE HISTORY FORUM
MARCH 22-23, 2002
The UNC-Charlotte Graduate History Association invites all interested parties to attend our fourteenth annual Graduate History Forum on Friday, March 22, and Saturday, March 23.
Saturday's luncheon will feature an address by guest speaker Dr. Helmut Smith. Dr. Smith is an Associate Professor at Vanderbilt University and is the author of German Nationalism and Religious Conflict: Culture, Ideology, Politics, 1870-1914 (Princeton, 1995) and the forthcoming The Butcher's Tale: Murder and Anti-Semitism in a German Town. Dr. Smith's address is titled, "'Around the Corner and Out of Earshot': The Possibilities and Limits of Microhistory."
Friday evenings registration and reception will feature a presentation by Dr. Heather Thompson, Assistant Professor of History at UNC Charlotte, entitled, "From Struggles in the Streets to Clashes in the Courtroom: Deciding the Fate of Postwar Urban America."
The GHA invites all graduate and advanced undergraduate students to submit history papers of original research for presentation at the Forum. All topics are welcome, including historiographical essays. Prizes will be awarded for the best papers. A one-page abstract and curriculum vitae should be submitted by January 18, 2002. Deadline for submission of completed paper is February 18, 2002. When possible please forward all correspondence by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Or mail to the address below.
