Contributions are solicited for Salve Regina University's 6th Annual Cultural and Historic Preservation (CHP) Conference. Titled "From Shingles to Columns: McKim, Mead, and White and the Transformation of America", the conference will be held September 26th through September 28th, 2002 on the historic campus of Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. The CHP conference is under the direction of Richard Guy Wilson, Commonwealth Professor of Architectural History at the University of Virginia.
Papers are sought on all aspects of McKim, Mead, and White's work, but those exploring buildings and structures that have attracted relatively little attention from previous scholars are especially welcome. It is expected that the conference will lead to an edited volume shedding new light on the firm and its work.
Potential participants should send a letter of interest with a 150-word abstract and a short CV to the address listed below by March 15, 2002; notification will be made by April 15, 2002. Speakers will receive a modest honorarium for their participation in the conference.
