The Forum provides an opportunity for graduate students preparing dissertations in early American history to discuss their projects with peers and members of the Society. The proposal (due 15 Jan. 2002), not to exceed 5 double-spaced pages, should ouline the dissertation and then highlight a particular dilemma (methodological, source-based, conceptual) encountered in research or writing. Successful candidates will present their topic at the Graduate Student Forum to be held in Boston, Massachusetts on 5 April 2002. Monies are available for students' travel and lodging. Preference will be given to New England topics, although the committee will attempt to achieve a balance in subjects covered.
