We seek one paper to complete a panel on "Taxation and Social Justice in the Nineteenth Century" for the 2003 OAH meeting in Memphis, TN, 3-6 April 2003. Topics can include income taxes, tariffs, poll taxes, or any direct or indirect tax. The paper can address local, state, or federal issues pertaining to the balancing (or neglect) of social justice and tax policy during any period of the nineteenth century. Send a 500 word abstract, 250 word prospectus, and single page vitae to the panel's organizer at the address below. Hard copies or e-mail submissions accepted.
