2002 REUNION OF UNIQUE HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS: OTC CHILDREN
One Thousand Children, Inc, (OTC) an organization dedicated to documenting the experiences of the approximately 1,000 children rescued from the Holocaust by bringing them to the U.S. and placing them with foster families across America, is seeking papers and presenters for a national reunion next summer of OTC children and their rescuers. These are virtually the ONLY unaccompanied children rescued by America from Nazi persecution. We are interested in all aspects of the OTC story including but not limited to:
Rescue planning and logistics,
US immigration and other relevant government policies and regulations,
Resettlement experiences and adjustment,
Contributions and achievements of OTC children, and
Profiles of individuals and organizations involved in the rescue process especially – Cecelia Razovsky, Lotte Marcuse, Kate Roesenheim and Eleanor Roosevelt,
German Jewish Children's Aid, American Friends Service Committee, OSE, HIAS, Brith Shalom, National Council of Jewish Women, American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, and, US Committee for the Care of Refugee Children
Experiences of foster family members, and,
Experiences of second generation OTC
We are interested in hearing from scholars, researchers, as well OTC children, second and third gen OTC, foster family members and individual and representatives of organizations involved in planning and carrying out the rescues.
