Considering that in the last decades there has been abundant and wide discussions on subjects about culture, about the cultural meaning of historical and social processes, and inter-cultural and multi-cultural problems from the most diverse theoretical positions such as universalist formalist, relativist, post-modernist, communitarianist, etc. Within the most diverse theoretical fields and disciplines (Philosophy, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Theory, History, Law, etc.), the congress intends to reflect on different aspects evoked by the “culturalist turn”.
- The first thematic area approaches metatheoretical revision under the headline: "Culture and Normativity".
- A second thematic area is called: "The New Social and Cultural Movements".
- A third one is engaged in the discussion of the concepts that are somehow structuring the current debate. Under the title "Interculturality, pluriculturality, Multiculturality".
- Finally, there will be a space for the discussion of programatic outlooks pointing to the future, under a title that is not attempting to prejudge the outcome of the discussion, rather it is thought as an invitation to think and discuss: "Is there a Cultural Universalism?"
