The AHRB Centre for Asian and African Literatures, a joint project between University College London and the School of Oriental and African Studies, announces three public lectures in association with the upcoming workshop conference on "Narrating and Imaging the Nation."
On 7 November, at 5.30 pm, in the Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre at SOAS, Professor Benedict Anderson (Cornell) will speak on "Narrating the Nation: For Whom? Imagining Readerships for 'Third World' Novels, 1890-1990."
On 8 November, at 5.30, in the Cruciform Building, Lecture Theatre 1, UCL, Professor Aijaz Ahmad (Columbia) will speak on "Home and the World: Literature in the Days of Nation and Empire."
On 9 November, at 5.30, in the Cruciform Building, Lecture Theatre 1, UCL, Professor Terry Eagleton (Manchester) will speak on "The Poetry of Nationalism."
All lectures are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
