The 2002 meeting of CASA will be held from May 3-5, 2002 at the University of California, Riverside.
Deadline for submissions: December 1, 2001.
The program committee seeks proposals on American culture, past and
present. We encourage submissions from various constituencies, including
graduate students, community college faculty, independent scholars, and
4-year university faculty. Proposals for multi-media presentations and
roundtable discussions are welcome as well as proposals for traditional
papers.
The following list of topics is suggestive but certainly not exclusive:
color, class, nation, religion, gender, terminology, demographics,
ethnicities, economics, power, environmental racism/classism, perceptions,
conceptualization, memberships, gerrymandering, language, allies, enemies,
disputed lands/geographies. (Proposals may also be made outside these topic
areas).
If you require A/V equipment for your presentation, please make a note of
that in your proposal to facilitate room assignments for panels.
Communication regarding the conference will be via email, so please send in
your email address, or if you are unreachable by email, send a notice to
that effect with your postal address.
