RETHINKING BIOGRAPHY
Rethinking History: The Journal of Theory and Practice invites
submissions for a special issue devoted to the topic: Rethinking
Biography.
We are interested in considering both theoretical essays on the
problems and possibilities for contemporary biography as well as
pieces of experimental biographical writing--either parts of works
in progress or short biographical studies. Our definition of
biography is broad enough to include lives told in media other than
the printed page, such as film, video, graphics, and on the internet.
Rethinking History: The Journal of Theory and Practice is a refereed
journal now in its sixth year of publication. We are always open to
submissions on a wide range of issues dealing with historical writing
and are particularly interested in experiments in new ways of writing
the past.
Our normal limit for essays is 8000 words; we also regularly feature
Miniatures, works of up to but no more than 1500 words.
Manuscripts or ideas for essays may be communicated to either of the
journal's two editors. For a free copy of the journal, please go to our
