The project "Conservatism in transition: the European tradition and Russian experience", supported by CIVIC EDUCATION PROJECT - RUSSIA, has a purpose to involve scholars into discussion about histori-cal roots of conservatism as global phenomenon, as well as specific of conservative ideology in the various European countries. It is expected that the conference will promote an exchange of ideas, formulation of new estimations and development of the methodological approaches for researches on conservatism.

We wish to invite a maximum wide circle of the researchers. Histo-rians and philosophers, from Russia and countries of East and Western Europe are invited. Working languages of the conference will be English and Russian The project will be realised in two stages:

The first stage - Internet-conference. The participants can send arti-cles up to 15 pages (MS Word format, font 14, and interval 1.5) and filled application form to our e-mail dvs@samara.ru till December 15th, 2001. All received articles will be placed on web-site http:\\conservatism.samara.ru February 20-21st, 2002 the Internet-conference will hold. During two days everyone can state his opinion about texts and to take part in discussion on-line.

The second stage - workshop in Samara, Russia. The authors of most interesting researches will be invited in Samara for participation in a scholar symposium in the end of April 2002. The organisers of a confer-ence compensate cost of the railway or air tickets (last are paid only in case that travel up to Samara by train takes more than 24 hours).
As a results of the conference the collection of articles will be pub-lished.
