Conference Theme: Anthony Powell and Oxford of the 1920s
A celebration of the life and work of English author and literarist Anthony Dymoke Powell (1905-2000). Educated at Eton and Balliol, Powell knew many of the other leading literary and artistic figures of his day including Waugh, Orwell, Connolly, Graham Greene, Henry Yorke, Augustus John and Constant Lambert. Best known for his 12-volume magnum opus 'A Dance to the Music of
Time', Powell also published 7 other novels, 2 plays, biography, 4 volumes of memoirs and 3 volumes of journals. He was a prolific literary reviewer and critic over a period of some 50 years, towards the end of his life publishing 2
volumes of his selected criticism.
