The editors of the electronic graduate feminist journal, _thirdspace_, invite you to contribute to a special issue on the theory and concept of ‘thirdspace.’

Explored by theorists such as Homi Bhaba and Julia Kristeva, ‘thirdspace’ has been recently taken up with enthusiasm by social geographers but is also relevant to a wide range of fields including post-colonial, feminist, and cultural studies.

Thirdspace (in some of its conceptualizations) is a place ‘in between’ the positions of duality scholars have traditionally accepted (white/Black, First World/Third World). It can encompass both theory and physicality, hybridity and movement, simultaneous intangibility and foundation. It has been used to explore such issues as post-colonial theory as well as actual spaces of liminal social identities.

We welcome papers from emerging scholars (graduate students, new independent scholars, and post-doctoral fellows) using ‘thirdspace’ or allied concepts in the most wide and fluid sense, from any and all disciplines. All articles are reviewed by a panel of established scholars.
