Keynote Presenter: Stephen Harrigan, author of The Gates of the Alamo,
Comanche Midnight, and A Natural State: Essays on Texas.
Possible Submissions: Works with an environmental, cultural, or historically related plot, theme, especially encourages, including:
- Poetry, fiction, or non-fiction essays (20-30 minute reading times)
- Short Films (standard VHS format; enclose SASE for return; ASU
not responsible for lost or damaged video)
- Critical or biographical essays or panels on Stephen Harrigan
or other writers (complete articles or abstracts/proposals of
about 250 words accepted.)

About the Conference:
The conference invites fiction, poetry, critical essays, and short
films on all aspects of the environment or culture of the Southwest in
literature. Particularly, welcome are presentations on the works and
influences of Stephen Harrigan.
Past keynote presenters: Rudolfo Anaya, W.P. Kinsella, Denise Chavez, Reginald McKnight.
