Poets writing in Italy in the 1960s and 1970s faced a very different reality from that of the years immediately following the Second World War. The new socio-economic situation, characterised by rapid growth, technological change and an incipient consumer society, and the arrival of new ideas from the rest of Europe and from North America, inspired an extraordinary range of different approaches to verse composition.
The main objective of this conference, the first on this subject to be held in Britain, is to make the work of Italian poets writing in these two decades more widely known and appreciated in this country. Speakers include: Giovanni Giudici, Edoardo Sanguineti, Niva Lorenzini, Luigi Fontanella.
