Donors In Transitional Southern Africa: The Contested Terrain Of Development Aid

Date: October 30 and 31, 2001
Location: Durban, South Africa.
The Donor Funding Project at the School of Development Studies (SODS), University of Natal, Durban, is calling upon social scientists and related practitioners to submit titles and abstracts for papers to be presented at our final conference, scheduled for 30 to 31 October 2001. The purpose of the conference is to address the dynamics of the aid industry in the region, and the ways in which local actors and organisations reframe development debates, policies and practice. Papers will be considered with the following key themes in mind:
- Approaches to Peace, Conflict & Security: Theory & Practice
- Understanding the Aid Chain: Donors, Government & Civil Society Relationships
- Sectoral Policy & Programming: International & Local Approaches
- The Politics of Development Practice
- Southern African Challenges to the Aid Industry
- Patterns of International Aid Flows to the Southern African region
