Hello. I'm editing a book of essays on the history of basketball since the 1970s. I'm looking for possible contributors on a number of different topics, ranging from the NBA, WNBA, college, and high school basketball. The book is tentatively titled: Basketball in America: From the Playgrounds to Jordan's Game and Beyond.
Contributors will range across disciplines, so don't feel that you have to be a historian to contribute. In fact, I'm trying to get someone of stature to write the Foreward and I've been in contact with reps of current NBA players and past greats.
I encourage you to send me some biographical information, the topic(s) you would like to write about, and other important information as soon as possible. The publisher (Haworth Press) has already accepted a range of topics, but there is room for maneuvering there. Please contact me before sending any completed manuscripts if you've worked on something similar in the past.
Two important notices: I'm splitting the pay equally with all the contributors, so the more we sell, the more we make. I have an extensive marketing/public relations background and will use this to sell the book. Second, the manuscripts MUST be finished by mid-December at the very latest. I will not tolerate missed deadlines.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Bob Batchelor
