The Animal Rights Issues Area invites submissions from individuals and panels on topics including (but not limited to) the following:
representations of animals in children's and adult literature
philosophical arguments about vegetarianism, vivisection, and
inclusion of nonhuman animals in the human community
history of animal rights movements
legal aspects of animal rights
documentation of abuse in domestic, farm, lab, and wild sites
and dissemination of this information in popular media
analysis of rhetoric (verbal and visual) about animals
in daily life and in humane society publications
Please send or e-mail a 300-400 word paper proposal, a brief
biographical note, and a short bibliography for the paper.
The 2002 meeting of the SW-TX PCA/ACA will be at the
Albuquerque Hilton near the U of New Mexico campus from
February 13th through 17th, 2001. Special events are
planned for the meeting and any modern language is welcomed
for presentations. For details about the meeting, the site,
