Proposals are invited for an interdisciplinary conference on walking in
Canada. Possible topics include:
Aboriginal walking the Red Road papoose, moccasin, snowshoe portage settler walking trapping, mapping and migration city walking parades, protests, pilgrimage skywalkers, streetwalkers, walkers on water tramps the social history and folklore of walking in Canada walkathons the Trans-Canada Trail the cultural geography of walking walking and Canadian literature
Please send titles and proposals of no more than 150 words to
jscott@yorku.ca and Joe_Sheridan@edu.yorku.ca by October 7, 2001.
Papers will be considered for an edited collection of essays.
