The 2001 Wanapitei Colloquium will focus on issues related to "Oral History, Storytelling and Aboriginal Traditional Knowledge," a topic chosen by the participants at the end of last year's Colloquium on "Representations of Aboriginal People: By Themselves and by Others." While the participants are usually affiliated with academic departments and/or First Nations, the conference is open to all those interested in the topic. The conference takes place in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that encourages discussion and debate but also takes time for special events such as a canoe trip and a visit to Bear Island. A draft schedule of events is available from the organizers.
