The Chair for the History of Latin America (Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim König and Dr. Stefan Rinke) at the Katholische Universität Eichstätt, Germany, cordially invites interested scholars to a conference/workshop "Norte-Americanización of Latin America? The New Cultural History of Inter-American Relations" (July 5-7, 2001).
In the course of the 20th century, 'Norte-Americanización' has become a crucial factor in Latin America penetrating all spheres of life. Despite its overwhelming social relevance to Latin American Studies research has so far largely shunned the question. However, a new cultural history of inter-American relations has lately started to focus on this and related questions. In our conference/workshop we will discuss the new approaches and the new research that is now under way.
