Perspectives on Social Inequalities:
Issues of Race, Class and Gender Worldwide
A Series of Forums organized by Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund Program
Washington, D. C., September 18 2001
CALL FOR PAPERS
Hosted by
Howard University
The Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund Program at five universities, University of Sao Paulo (Brazil), York University (Canada), Massey University (New Zealand), University of the Western Cape (South Africa) and Howard University (United States) are organizing a series of Forums on Social Inequality. The Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellows believe that a series of forums on social inequality will contribute to the rising awareness of some of the issues related to social inequality. The forums will provide an opportunity for scholars to network in an international environment that fosters intellectual stimulation and scholarly debate. Several papers at each University Forum will be selected for an International Forum held in Washington, D.C. October 31 to November 2, 2001. There will also be an opportunity for publication.
Topics to be covered can include, but are not limited to the following: racism, classism, gender equality, indigenous peoples, immigrants, and xenophobia.
Participants are requested to observe the following deadlines:
· Abstract of Paper (one page): June 25 2001
· Notification of Acceptance: July 13 2001
· Complete Paper: August 28 2001
Both abstract and complete paper can be submitted through this e-mail address: sylff@howard.edu
