Twelfth Meeting of the Mining History Association
Butte, Montana
June 14-17, 2001
The meeting will kick-off with an open house at Butte's World Museum of Mining on Thursday afternoon, June 14, and will be followed that evening with a welcoming reception hosted by ARCO at Montana Tech's Mill Building and Mineral Museum. Presentations will be given as part of sessions on Friday morning and all day Saturday. Friday will also include a pasty luncheon, afternoon tours of Butte and the Anselmo Mine, and an evening awards banquet featuring speaker and renowned mining historian Clarke C. Spence.
Saturday's presidential luncheon will highlight current research of MHA president Richard Francaviglia, with an evening "pub crawl" returning to the Finlen Hotel for a few final speakers.
Sunday provides attendees with a choice of three tours: "Industrial Butte - Anaconda," "High Country Mining and the Charter Oak Mill," or a longer journey to the Montana gold rush towns of Bannack and Virginia City.
