There have been many misunderstandings regarding the Jefferson-Hemings DNA Study. It has been a fiasco from the beginning. It was my pleasure to assist Dr. E.A. Foster with the study, providing family history, encouraging Jefferson descendants that would qualify for the DNA purposes and exchanging family history for comparison when his scientific results were returned.
Because of the seemingly lack of research on the part of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation Report of January 26, 2000, in my opinion, we formed what is now known as The Thomas Jefferson Heritage Society. This society would later sponsor a Scholars Commission (13 prominent professors) to give a "second opinion" to such an important topic.
