10 Days Still Left!
The deadline for proposals for MWASECS 2001, November 9-11, 2001, has been extended to May 10.
CALL FOR PAPERS, PANELS, AND ROUNDTABLES: "BEAUTY"
We invite proposals for papers, panels, and roundtables for the meeting of the Midwestern American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (MWASECS), to be held November 9-11, 2001, at the University of Iowa Memorial Union (IMU) in Iowa City, Iowa.
PLENARY SPEAKERS:
- Bernadette Fort (French, Northwestern University)
- Jay Fliegelman (English Department, Stanford University)
- Mary Hunter (Music, Bowdoin College)
We welcome submissions from all disciplines on any aspect of the long eighteenth century, though we are especially interested in topics relating to our theme of "Beauty." This theme is meant to encompass all manner of aesthetic production and reflection, in relation to both generals and particulars, and to encourage the framing of eighteenth-century creations and preoccupations in light of recent critical concerns with the category of the aesthetic and/or the renewed interest in beauty that has emerged at the turn of the millenium.
Please send proposals to arrive no later than May 10, 2001. All proposals should include an abstract (one page maximum), a mailing address, email address, and phone number. Proposals for panels and roundtables should include in addition the names of all participants. Membership in the Midwestern ASECS is not required in order to submit a proposal.
Please address proposals to:
