The Editors of H-Women announce an upcoming on-line
discussion of a piece by Ellen DuBois on feminism and
free love. The piece was written some time
ago, but has not been published. In order to make
it available to a larger audience, Prof. DuBois
has agreed to make the article available on-line,
supplemented by an introductory note that gives
a history of the piece and some of her more
recent thoughts. Ellen DuBois is Professor of
History at UCLA.
We are pleased to take the opportunity
permitted by the internet to allow H-Women members
to discuss an unpublished article and to have
an interchange among interested scholars.
The piece itself, plus the introductory note,
is now available on the H-women Website at:
http://www2.h-net.msu.edu/~women/

Forum: Ellen Carol DuBois on Feminism and Free Love
Discussion will not begin until Monday, April 30th
to allow list members time to read the piece.
We will start off the forum with comments
and questions from Christine Stansell, Professor
of History at Princeton, Patricia Cline Cohen,
Professor of History at the University of California
at Santa Barbara, and Martin H. Blatt, Chief
of Cultural Resources, National Park Service,
Boston. On-line discussion will continue until
Tuesday, May 15th.
Prof DuBois and H-Women invite discussion about
the piece itself as well as a larger conversation
about free love and feminism, including research
to be done.
The forum will be archived on the H-Women web site,
and interested non-list members are invited to review
the H-Women logs for those weeks or to join H-Women
in order to follow the discussion. H-Women is very
excited about the chance to use the internet for such
a discussion and to experiment with new ways to share
scholarship.
