The Art of Story
in
Teaching, Writing, Music, Business, and Ministry
June 21-23, 2001
U.C. Institutes
Union College
Barbourville, KY 40906
"God sends threads to webs begun"
We seek ideas that relate to the art of story in business, teaching, music, writing, ministry and other endeavors. We want people such as leaders, teachers, musicians, writers, and clergy to give workshops, demonstrations, or performances on how they incorporate story into their work.
We also invite proposals for fifteen-minute papers and forty-five-minute sessions that investigate the use of story in various disciplines. How do we weave the narrative webs through which we make meaning of our worlds? How do stories help us synthesize, generate interdisciplinary understanding, cross borders, and connect with other people and disciplines? These proposals will be refereed.
We are looking for ideas from both professionals and amateurs (remembering the root of the word-love) regarding the art of story. Creative approaches are encouraged. The Institute will be a meeting of the academic and non-academic communities centered on the importance of story to our lives.
