This two-day conference will explore the correspondence, poems, essays, and political writings of the Bluestocking women writers and assess the significance of their writings and the ideas they fomented. The conference convener is Felicity Nussbaum (University of California, Los Angeles) and participants are: Harriet Guest (University of York), Lisa Freeman (University of Illinois, Chicago), Gary Kelly (University of Alberta), Ruth Perry (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Alessa Johns (University of California, Davis), Linda Bree (Cambridge University Press), Susan Lanser (University of Maryland), Judith Hawley (Royal Holloway College), Nicole Pohl (University College, Northampton), Elizabeth Eger (University of Liverpool), Kate Davies (University of York), and Susan Staves (Brandeis University).
