The University of Memphis Department of History and
The Graduate History Association are pleased to announce The Third
Annual Graduate Student Conference in African American History, October
19-20, 2001.
Graduate students wishing to present a paper based on original research
on any topic in African American history are invited to submit a
curriculum vitae and a one-page abstract which discusses the paper's
thesis, sources, and conclusions, postmarked no later than May 31, 2001.
All program papers received in a timely manner will be considered for
the "Memphis State Eight Best Paper" honor and monetary awards.
Abstracts should be directed to: Graduate Student Conference in African
American History; Program Committee; 100 Mitchell Hall; University of
Memphis; Memphis, TN. 38152.
Participants will be notified of acceptance by July 1, 2001. Completed
papers must be received no later than August 31, 2001 to secure program
placement and consideration for awards.
