Colloquy “The African Migration to Europe: Dynamics, Dimensions, Consequences” (Moscow, 25-26 September, 2001)
The Centre for Sociological and Political Studies of the Institute for African Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences, is pleased to invite scholars and experts to participate in the Colloquy “The African Migration to Europe: Dynamics, Dimensions, Consequences” to be held in Moscow at the Institute for African Studies on 25-26 September, 2001.
A wide range of issues will be discussed at the Colloquy, among them:
- Historical and geographical parameters of the African migration to Europe;
The African component of the European immigration;
- The impact of migration processes on the economic, socio-political and socio-cultural environment of European and African countries;
- The ethnic and cultural dimension of subsistence in the immigrants' milieu.
- The alien minorities and European public opinion;
- The legal and illegal immigration;
- Is Europe jeopardised with a ”creeping” Islamisation?;
- The key factors of the migration policy in European and African states;
- The migration problems in Afro-Europe relations;
- Migration problems as seen from the West and the East of Europe;
- The economic globalisation and migrations;
- The European migration in retrospect and prospect;
- The Western Europe's immigration experience: lessons for Russia.
Presenters will be asked to submit an abstract of (300 words) and a short CV before the 1st April 2001, and the papers – before the 1st June 2001.
The Colloquy Organising Committee is not responsible for Russian and foreign participant's travelling and lodging expenses.
The participants are requested to 100 (one hundred) U.S. dollars participation fee (to settle the accounts for translation and other expenses).
