Sixth Annual War College of the Seven Years’ War
Fort Ticonderoga
May 19 & 20, 2001
Fort Ticonderoga will host its Sixth Annual War College of the Seven Years’ War on May 19 & 20, 2001. Nearly 150 participants—people with a deep interest in 18th-century military history—join us each year for this two-day college-level seminar. The War College focuses on the military history of North America in the Seven Years’ War (1754-1760). Leading authorities on the period present their latest findings in a series of lectures and demonstrations. The War College provides participants with an opportunity to listen to and interact with the presenters in a relaxed atmosphere. Participation in the War College is by pre-registration only.
This year’s keynote speakers are Kevin Phillips, author of The Cousins’ War, and Dr. R. Scott Stephenson. Phillips will speak on “The French & Indian War—Its Role in the Great English-Speaking Civil Wars: 1641-1649, 1775-1783, 1861-1865.” Stephenson’s topic is “’Were my project to make money, I would never leave America’: The Highland Soldiers’ American War, 1756-1764.”
Other speakers include: Robert Andrews, editor of Jeffery Amherst’s Journal; Sandy Balcom, Curator at Fortress Louisbourg; René Chartrand, author of Ticonderoga 1758 and Louisbourg 1758; Steve Delisle, author of Canadian Militia Accoutrements; Phil Dunning, Parks Canada; William Farrar and Tom Nesbitt, Crown Point State Historic Site; André Gousse, Parks Canada; Ken Hamilton, reenactor member of the Native American Woodland Compact; Robert Maguire, Trustee of Fort Ticonderoga; Paula McElroy, reenactor in the recreated 42nd Royal Highlanders; and Nicholas Westbrook, Executive Director of Fort Ticonderoga.
