The Center for Historical Studies at the University of Maryland has adopted the theme "The Nation and Beyond" for its 2000-2001 program. The
Center, in conjunction with the History Department, is pleased to announce the following event organized around this year's theme:

Public Conference
"National Identities in the Americas"
This event will bring scholars of international renown to the College Park campus to discuss and debate contemporary approaches to
historical memory, national identity, and citizenship in the Americas.
