In this workshop we will have a chance to explore two
distinct approaches to working with emotions. Les
Greenberg has done tremendous process and outcome
research and has written extensively on emotions in
psychotherapy. His approach to working with emotions is
based on the gestalt therapy tradition. Diana Fosha is in
the forefront of Experiential Short-Term Dynamic
Psychotherapy (ESTDP). Her approach is grounded in the
psychodynamic tradition. Through the use of didactic
presentations, panel discussions, and a lot of clinical
videotapes, we plan to compare and contrast these two
approaches. How much of what these two clinicians are
doing is really similar, but just defined by different terms?
How much is really quite different? Come see for
yourself.
