Core Factors for Effective Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy
10 to 12 May 2001, Milan, Italy
This is the first conference of the newly formed
International Experiential STDP Association (IESA). The
term "Experiential Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy"
(ESTDP) is now being used to describe a sub-category of
the field of Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (STDP) in
which there is an emphasis placed on facilitating the
actual experience of emotions within therapy sessions.
This group of approaches is influenced by the Intensive
Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) of Habib
Davanloo. Such authors as Leigh McCullough, Diana
Fosha, Patricia Coughlin Della Selva, Michael Alpert, and
Jeffrey Magnavita have taken this approach into new
directions. The conference will feature presentations that
make extensive use of videotaped case vignettes.
