A Workshop led by John Shea.
Well known theologian and author, John Shea has written a dozen books about spirituality including "Spirituality and Health Care: Reaching Toward a Holistic Future," "Elijah at the Wedding Feast and Other Tales," "The Legend of the Bells and Other Tales," and "Gospel Light."
Interest in the connections between spirituality and health has seldom been greater. The positive effects of prayer and other religious practices receive increasing media attention as studies continue to report the benefits of spirituality. But for practitioners and patients alike, questions remain.
Questions to be addressed include: the relationship between personal beliefs and the patient's experience of sickness and health; the relationship between the caregiver's spirituality and their professional role in medicine; and how the growing emphasis on spirituality is reframing the role of priests, ministers, rabbis, and chaplains.
