History Across the Disciplines
2001: An Historical Odyssey
3rd Annual Graduate Student Conference
Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
March 23 - 25, 2001
The Dalhousie Graduate Historical Society invites M.A. and Ph.D students in the Humanities and Social Sciences to submit abstracts for our upcoming Graduate Student Conference: History Across the Disciplines - 2001: An Historical Odyssey.
Now in its third year, the Dalhousie History Across the Disciplines conference is designed to promote interdisciplinary study of the past by bringing together graduate students who are pursuing history across disciplinary boundaries. We are interested in research on any historical era and subject, from antiquity to postmodernity and from menopause to monarchy, and from all parts of the world.
We are pleased to have Bernice Morgan as our keynote speaker this year. Mrs. Morgan is the award-winning author of two novels, Random Passage and Waiting for Time, both of which follow the struggles of an outport family from the early 1800s to the cod moratorium in the 1990s. Random Passage is presently being made into an 8 part mini-series, a co-production between companies in Canada and Ireland.
Those interested should submit a one page abstract and contact information to the address below by January 26, 2001.
