I am hoping at this late date to put together a panel for the Berks 2002 conference. I am exploring the interaction of American missionary and Chinese Christian women in the context of the "Women's Industrial Society" at a North China mission station in the 1920's. In particular, I'm focusing on the changing boundaries of the spheres of women between and within the two traditions, how participation in the Society afforded both groups of women expanded mobility and opportunities to articulate themselves in new ways. Please contact me at smr@qwestonline.com if you might be interested in participating.
