The Meeting will be held January 31 through February 2,
2001 at the National Center of Conservation, Restoration
and Museology. The sponsoring institutions have
developed a program of educational activities for January
30 and an excursion to the tourist zone of Varadero for
February 3. The call for participation is being issued to
translators, interpreters, and professors and researchers
in the field of translation and interpretation. Themes of
the meeting include literary translation, document
translation, interpretation, teaching, research, and
terminology. The meeting will be organized into paper
sessions, workshops, roundtables, presentations,
expositions and videos.
Spanish will be the official language of the meeting. The
price varies from $727 (U.S. dollars) to $1352 according to
the hotel accommodations selected by the participant.
The price includes 6 nights and 7 days with breakfast in
the hotel selected; lunch in La Roca restaurant on January
30; registration, program fees and entrance fees for all the
activities; all ground transportation in Cuba; services of
guide and teachers in the educational program. The fee
does not include air travel to and from Havana, dinners,
and lunches not mentioned.

Translation and Interpretation, the National Union of
Writers and Artists of Cuba, the Cuban Association of
Translators and Interpreters, the Institute of Technical
Scientific Information and Documentation, and the Foreign
language Faculty of the University of Havana along with
the Center for Development Studies of South Carolina.
